Assumption Festival and Other Notes

A note from Fr. Ringley Notas del Padre Ringley
We are looking forward to the celebration of the Feast of Our Lady’s Assumption this weekend. Thanks to all who contributed in any way to make things work smoothly. I am grateful to all who asked about my vacation. It was good to see my father, a couple of sisters and their children, and some old friends.
My two weeks at Northeast Catholic College were very productive and inspiring. Each summer for eight years I have served as the chaplain, and music and catechism teacher for a two week “Come and See” program for prospective students at North East Catholic College, formerly known as The College of St. Mary Magdalene, in Warner, New Hampshire. This is a small Catholic College which provides a liberal arts education for college students who want to know and live the Truth of Jesus Christ and His Church. The college utilizes what is known as the “Great Books Program”. Students read primary texts and discuss them together in small groups with the guidance of a professor, as opposed to reading textbooks and listening to lectures. I am very proud to be a part of this small educational movement, and I have met some very impressive young men and women who, God willing, will help to steer the future of Western Civilization in the right direction. It’s a great place, and they are doing a fantastic job of changing the culture one student at a time. If you are interested in the College call me or look it up online.
Many of you have asked to speak with me about how I intend to proceed concerning this, that, or the other thing. I appreciate your patience as I try to piece together all the parts of the puzzle here at St. Mary’s so that we may move forward as effectively and efficiently as possible.
Please stop by after Mass and introduce yourself so that I may get to know as many names and faces as possible.
