A Note from Fr. Ringley—Una nota del p. Ringley

While many people, too numerous to name, worked behind the scenes at everything from cleaning, arranging the flowers, carrying things around, veiling the statues, and a multitude of other tasks, we are especially fortunate to have the following people serving the Lord at St. Mary’s: our principal Masters of Ceremonies John Pia and Bill Riccio, and our principal musicians Charlie and Elizabeth Weaver. Without them and all those who help them provide for the liturgies, I would not be able to say (as I am proud to say frequently), “No one does Mass better than St. Mary’s.”

It is also heartening to know that so many of our parishioners are willing to volunteer between the various ceremonies of Holy Week. These ceremonies involve tremendous amounts of preparation, and we would not be able to do it all without the help of so many hands working “backstage and outside the spotlights”.

Our parishioners will notice that the school gym, also known as our parish center, has been newly painted and had the floor refurbished. This was done thanks to a donation acquired by Mike Evans who rents the gym during part of the week for his basketball programs.

We still await materials for the school roof replacement and the new front doors for the church.

Our RCIA program is drawing to a close for the year. We are happy for the nine souls who were baptized at the Easter Vigil, and for the other students who will soon receive Communion and Confirmation. Thanks to Dn. Steve and Sue Genovese for their work in this field.

In general, it seems to me that things are going well and I look forward to another year of serving and worshiping the Lord together with all of you.

Si bien es cierto que muchas personas, demasiado numerosas para nombrarlas, trabajaron entre bastidores para las distintas celebraciones, desde limpiar, decorar la iglesia con flores, transportar objetos de un lugar a otro, cubrir las estatuas y una multitud de otras
tareas, deseo agradecer de manera especial a las siguientes personas que sirven a nuestra iglesia Santa María, y que nos sentimos muy afortunados de contar con ellos: Nuestros Maestros de Ceremonia John Pia y Bill Riccio, y a los líderes de nuestro Departamento de Música Charlie y Elizabeth Weaver. Sin ellos y todos los que colaboran con ellos para las celebraciones de nuestras liturgias, no podría decir (como me enorgullece decir con
frecuencia): "Nadie celebra mejor las Misas que Santa María”.

También es alentador saber que tantos de nuestros feligreses están dispuestos a prestar sus servicios voluntariamente para las diversas ceremonias de la Semana Santa. Estas
ceremonias implican una enorme preparación, y no seríamos capaces de hacerlo todo sin la ayuda de tantas manos que trabajan "entre bastidores, fuera de las cámaras”.

Nuestros feligreses notarán que el gimnasio de la escuela, también conocido como nuestro Centro Parroquial, ha sido pintado recientemente y el piso también ha sido remozado. Esto se hizo gracias a una donación adquirida por Mike Evans, quien alquila el gimnasio durante parte de la semana para sus programas de baloncesto.

Todavía estamos esperando los materiales para el reemplazo del techo de la escuela y las nuevas puertas de entrada de la iglesia.

Nuestro programa RICA está llegando a su fin. Nos alegramos por las nueve almas que fueron bautizadas en la Vigilia Pascual, y por los demás alumnos que pronto recibirán la Comunión y la Confirmación. Gracias al Diácono Steve y a Sue Genevose por su colaboración con el Programa.

En general, me parece que las cosas van bien y espero con ansias un año más para servir y adorar al Señor junto con todos ustedes.
