Chant Camp 2009

St. Mary's Chant Camp!

Monday, August 17th - Friday, August 21st
10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day

Click here for a pdf flyer.

Following upon the success of last year's Chant Camp, St. Mary's is pleased to offer this exciting opportunity for children of all ages to learn about singing and reading music, and in particular Gregorian chant.

No prior musical experience is required, nor is there an age limit; the only prerequisite is the ability to read English fluently.  During the course of each day, there will be separate sessions for beginners and intermediate/advanced students.  Classes in ear training, sight singing, and repertoire will be offered,
with daily Mass, lunch, and recreation time.

The children will sing for the noon Mass at St. Mary's on Friday, August 21st, and again for the 9:30 Solemn Latin Mass on Sunday, August 23rd.  Attendance is required each day of the camp.  The fee is $40 per child or $80 per family for registered parishioners of St. Mary's, and $60 per child or $120 per family otherwise. Scholarships are available; no child will be turned away because of financial hardship. Children should bring a bag lunch each day.  Parents must register their children, by phone or e-mail, by 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16th.

For further information and to register for the Chant Camp, please contact David Hughes, St. Mary's Organist & Choirmaster: 203-866-5546 x115 or music@stmarynorwalk.net.
