St. Mary’s Choir rehearsals resume

St. Mary’s Choir will begin regular rehearsals for the year on Thursday, Sept. 4th. New members are most cordially welcomed! The Choir sings for the 11:30 Mass every Sunday. Rehearsals on Thursday evenings are at 6:30 for the chant choir, and 7:30 for the full polyphonic choir. Though prior choral experience is very helpful, it is not necessary; the Choir works on furthering vocal technique and learning new repertoire throughout the year. (The professional St. Mary’s Schola Cantorum, which sings for the Latin Mass at 9:30 a.m., is strictly by audition only.) For further information, please speak with Organist & Choirmaster David Hughes at 203-866-5546 x115 or music@stmarynorwalk.net. We look forward eagerly to singing together in worship of Almighty God!

St. Mary's is pleased to offer this exciting opportunity for children of all ages to learn about singing and reading music, and in particular Gregorian chant. The children will sing for the noon Mass at St. Mary's on Friday, August 22nd, and again for the 9:00 Latin Mass on Sunday, August 24th. No prior musical experience is required; the only prerequisite is the ability to read English fluently. Classes in ear training, sight singing, and repertoire will be offered, with daily Mass, lunch, and recreation time.

There is no charge for the camp, but attendance is required each day. Children should bring a bag lunch. Parents must register their children, by phone or e-mail, by 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 17th.

For further information and to register for the Chant Camp, please contact David Hughes, St. Mary's Organist & Choirmaster: 203-866-5546 x115 or music@stmarynorwalk.net.
