Ignatius Press series used for Religious Education

St. Mary Church has chosen to use the Ignatius Press series, Faith and Life, for our religious education program. This text is approved by the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops, as well as diocesan guidelines. We have found that this series is an effective tool in transmitting the Catholic Faith to our children. For example, the order of presentation, from creation, to anthropology, to the fall, redemption in Jesus Christ, and finally the Church, are biblically based models which have traditionally proven to be an effective order for teaching the faith. Furthermore, the definitions are well based in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the beautiful and inspiring artistic illustrations help students to make the important connection between beauty and truth, something that is lost in so many religious education texts today. The readings and presentation can be challenging at times, but our teachers who have been using it are thriving, finding it the most fruitful resource in teaching our children.
