Our new Religious Education/RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation) classes will begin on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. The classes will begin at 6:45pm until 8:30pm. This program is designed to prepare people to receive one or more of the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Communion, and/or Confirmation. |
Queridos padre(s), Nuestras clases de Educación Religiosa / RICA (Rito de Iniciación Cristiana) comenzarán el martes, 4 de septiembre de 2018. Las clases comenzarán a las 6:45 p.m. hasta las 8:30 p.m. Este programa está diseñado para preparar a candidatos para recibir uno o más de los Sacramentos de Iniciación: Bautismo, Comunión y/o Confirmación. |
| 1. Those children who have already spent one year in the First Holy Communion preparation program will be eligible to receive the Sacrament after one more year of preparation only if the pastor finds them sufficiently prepared. 2. Those children who have already spent one year in the Confirmation preparation program will be eligible to receive the Sacrament after one more year of preparation only if the pastor finds them sufficiently prepared. 3. Anyone over 7 years of age who has not been in a sacramental preparation program at St. Mary’s Parish is eligible to enter the two-year RCIA program. |

Los niños que ya hayan pasado un año en el programa de preparación de la Primera Comunión serán elegibles para recibir el Sacramento después de un año más de preparación sólo si el párroco considera que están suficientemente preparados. 2. Los niños que ya hayan pasado un año en el programa de preparación para su Confirmación serán elegibles para recibir el Sacramento después de un año más de preparación sólo si el párroco considera que están suficientemente preparados. 3. | It is important to understand that this Tuesday night program is the only opportunity to prepare to receive Communion and/or Confirmation at St. Mary’s Parish. There will be no more classes held on Sunday and Monday for regular classes and Wednesday for Sacramental classes. It is also important to note that any student participating in the program will be required to have one parent in attendance with him/her at the Tuesday night classes. Mass attendance for both students and parents is also mandatory. The student will be responsible for bringing a bulletin to class every Tuesday evening when they come to class to show that they attended Mass, as well as the bulletin will contain the material that will be covered in the Tuesday night class. | Es importante enfatizar que este programa de los martes por la noche es la única oportunidad de prepararse para recibir los sacramentos de Comunión y Confirmación en nuestra iglesia Santa María. También es importante tener en cuenta que cada estudiante participante deberá asistir con uno de sus padres a las clases de los martes. La asistencia a todas las clases, tanto para estudiantes como para padres es obligatoria. | There will be an expectation that certain basic prayers and facts will be memorized and that the parent and child are able to discuss basic aspects of the Faith with the pastor or his representative. It may be that for some, the time of preparation will need to be longer. If students apply themselves, dedicate time to the study of the material, take an interest in reviewing the lessons from class at home with their parents, and make use of all the materials at their disposal, such as the videos (available to view here), we anticipate that in a short time they will be ready to receive their sacraments. | Se espera que ciertas oraciones básicas sean memorizadas tanto por estudiantes como por los padres. El estudiante y sus padres tendrán la oportunidad de entrevistarse con el párroco o su representante, para discutir aspectos básicos de nuestra Fe Católica. El tiempo de preparación de los candidatos para recibir los sacramentos dependerá de cada estudiante. Si el estudiante: es aplicado, dedica tiempo al estudio del material, pone interés en repasar en la casa con sus padres las lecciones recibidas en el aula, y hace uso de todos los materiales a su alcance, tales como los videos (pueden verlos aquì), se anticipa que en corto tiempo estará preparado para recibir sus sacramentos. |
| If you are interested in preparing yourself and/or your child for the reception of the sacraments, please come to the Religious Education Office to register. There is no fee for this program and all needed materials will be provided by the parish. | Si está interesado en formar parte de nuestro programa, le invitamos a que se inscriba en nuestras oficinas de Educación Religiosa. Las clases son completamente gratis, y todos los materiales necesarios serán proporcionados por la parroquia. |
| Explanation of the New Faith Formation Program:
Fr. Ringley hopes to merge three different models of formation in the Faith: 1) the typical RCIA format that is used for adults who wish to receive their sacraments; 2) the traditional religious education classroom model; and 3) a small faith community model. 1. There will be no fees for this program. This will eliminate the expectation that because one has paid a fee the desired sacrament(s) will be received. |
Explicación del Nuevo Programa de Formación de Fe:
El Padre Ringley espera entremezclar los tres modelos diferentes de formación de Fe: 1) El formato típico de RICA que se usa para los adultos que desean recibir sus sacramentos; 2) el modelo tradicional, y 3) un modelo para comunidades pequeñas. 1. Las clases son completamente gratis. Esto evitará que los padres o guardianes esperen que sus hijos recibirán sus sacramentos en un tiempo determinado, aun sin estar preparados. |

Plan for the Class: We will all gather in the main church at 6:45pm and we will take class and Mass attendance. 1. The first 20 minutes of the evening will be a devotional exercise, namely Rosary, Divine Mercy, Stations of the Cross, Adoration, Mass music practice, etc. 2. Fr. Ringley will present the topic for the evening (20-30 minutes). 3. Small groups will then proceed to the school classrooms for discussion, etc. with the catechists until 8:30pm. |
Plan para la clase: Todos nos reuniremos en la iglesia principal a las 6:45 p.m. Pasaremos lista a los participantes, y asistencia a Misa. 1. Durante Los primeros 20 minutos de la noche rezaremos una devoción, (Coronilla a la Divina Misericordia, un misterio del Santo Rosario, Vía Crucis, Adoración al Santísimo, Practica de cantos de la Misa, etc.). 2. El Padre Ringley presentará el tema de la noche (20-30 minutos). 3. Los distintos grupos procederán a las aulas de clase con sus respectivas catequistas para desarrollar el tema de la noche hasta las 8:30PM. |
| There will be periodic assessments to ensure that parents and children are assimilating the material. Memorization of prayers (e. g. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be, grace before and after meals, Act of Contrition, Nicene Creed, Mass parts, etc.) will be expected. | Se harán evaluaciones periódicas para garantizar que los padres y los niños estén asimilando el material. También se harán evaluaciones de memorización de oraciones (El nuestro Padre, El Avemaría, El Gloria, Oración para dar gracias antes y después de las comidas, El Acto de contrición, El Credo de Nicea, las partes de la misa, etc.). |
