Renovations at St. Mary’s

Some parishioners have asked where are the two statues in the chapel, namely Mother Cabrini and St. John Vianney are. They are being painted by a talented restorer who has done wonderful work for St. Mary’s in the past. This restoration is being paid for by two parishioners who wish to remain anonymous. May God bless them for their generosity.

You may also have noticed that the statues and corpus have been removed from the rood beam. One of my hopes when I became pastor was to be able to redo the rood beam as it should have been done in the first place in the medieval style. The figures are being painted by Peter Kelley, the original artist who sculpted the figures on the rood. Peter and his brother will also bring the beam itself to be a truly fitting support for Our Lady, St. John and the Crucified Lord. A very generous donor has offered to support the cost of this worthy endeavor. But others who wish to contribute would be most appreciated. Any amount will be a real help.

Yes, the bathroom is really coming and may be in by the end of this month.

A final mention of another renovation, this time in the baptistery: a wonderful 19th century carved wood statue of St. John the Baptist from Spain. Anyone interested in donating the statue as a memorial to a loved one, please see me.

All this: Soli Deo Gloria, all for the glory of God alone.
