New Mass setting

Several members of the volunteer St. Mary's Choir came on a Saturday afternoon to make a recording of the new English Mass Ordinary that St. Mary's will employ at the 4:00 p.m. Saturday and 8:00 a.m. Sunday Masses.  (The 11:30 Sunday High Mass, at which the Choir sings, will continue to have a Latin Ordinary.)  The setting is Richard Rice's Mass of the Sacred Heart.  The new setting of the Ordinary will begin use on the First Sunday of Advent, when the new English translation of the Roman Missal goes into effect.

Kyrie: Kyrie

Sanctus: Sanctus

Agnus Dei: Agnus Dei

(The occasional clanging in the background are workers climbing scaffolding as the St. Mary's sanctuary is repainted!)

Presentation on the new translation of the Roman Missal, 6 November 2011

On Sunday evening, 6 November, Fr. Greg Markey, Pastor of St. Mary's, and David Hughes, Organist & Choirmaster, will give a talk on the new translation of the Roman Missal, which goes into effect on the First Sunday of Advent of this year.

The evening will begin with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the praying of the Rosary at 5:00 p.m., with the talk to follow at 5:30.  Fr. Markey will give an overview of the impetus for the new translation, and Hughes will discuss musical settings.  For more information on musical settings, see the website of the Church Music Association of America.
